New Blog: Hacking Healthcare

Hacking Health is a new a blog that looks at the intersections between big data, life science and healthcare.  What questions does it intend to address?

Improving healthcare is a big data problem.  The volume and kinds of data that are created over the course of a patient’s journey through the healthcare system are so large and disconnected that it is difficult to identify underlying meaning.  What are the IT technologies that are disrupting traditional methods of storing, accessing, and analyzing healthcare data (eg. Greenplum)?”

The site even asks how Obamacare could use big data solutions.  He also interviews a life science data expert who notes “We don’t have data warehouses, we have data tombs.”

For data geeks interested in applying their skills to the healthcare arena, this will be an interesting blog to follow.
